and i think it’s important to reflect on more recent violent homophobic & transphobic & transmisogynistic hate crimes and murders because we need to remember the cruel reality of our existence and we need to remember why our unification as a community matters. the AIDS crisis at its peak (although it is still ongoing) was before my time but so many hundreds – if not thousands – of our own have been murdered within our lifetimes. there have been trans women murdered THIS YEAR. a lesbian couple was shot to death and dumped in a river last year. matthew shepard was tortured & murdered in 1998.
our oppression is ongoing. the death toll is still rising. we have got to re-evaluate our priorities because “MOGAI” politics on the basis of inclusivity are not doing anything but hurting & dividing us as a community.
